It is the second day of chinese new year and im already sick of eating, its really mindless festive eating which makes you eat regardless of you feeling hungry or not. There are honey crackers, bakkwa, pineapple tarts in every household.

anyways, this year's new year is a nice time to catch up with relatives whom we haven met for awhile and i have enjoyed myself during the 4 days break. just sad that good things come to an end as i have to be back at work tml despite the office being closed. but ohwells i just have to do it.

Life have been passing really fast lately. January seems to be coming to an end really soon. Have been in my job for 3 weeks. Starting to look at advertising in a new perspective and it is a really fast-moving and dynamic environment. and that is where i start to think if working in an advertising industry would be suitable for me. been thinking alot lately, but unable to come into a conclusion.

sometimes i feel happy, sometimes i feel motivated, sometimes i feel sad, sometimes i feel angry, sometimes i feel excitied, sometimes i feel discouraged, sometimes i feel... however all these show in my face. emotions, tame down.

2012 - New Start

This year I have,

- turned 21

- graduated

- travelled to Genting, BKK, China, Batam

- run OHDEEDUP for a year

- lead Gkids for a year too

- baked and cooked

- made some new friends

- handled my finances v poorly

- made some mistakes and screwed things up

- started to find a full-time jobs

I felt like 2011 has been challenging for me, many times it felt like i am moving forward 3 steps and falling 2 steps back down. However there were happy times, being closer with friends and family and I am glad to have them by my side. There might be times where I grumble and whine alot, tears and frustrations, but I want to thank God for sustaining me through and making me stronger.

As 2012 approaches, let a stronger and calmer me take it on. It is a year of transition into working life, Jesus, take the wheel.

I dont really know why, but maybe cause dad bought the christmas tree and added to the 'christmasy feel' Presents wrapped, placed under the christmas tree, festive goodies, good food, playing Michael Buble's Christmas Album, blissful :) it was a great time spending with family and friends ♥♥♥♥

I feel really stifled at the moment. Going through the interviews make me wonder if I am really passionate with what I am going to do, if it will be enough, and if I can really make a difference and do something of worth. The uncertainty and the feeling that "I am not good enough for this" just gripped me each time i think back. It is so hard to be young and try to find your place in the world. It feels like early 20s is such an important time in our life; figuring out who I am going to be while also trying to hold on to our youth.

Or maybe i need more patience to go figure out all these little things.

God, are you somewhere near me?

Last Youthwings Meeting

The church had some changes internally and my cell is being moved to a new tribe. i guess when i first received the news, i was shocked and didnt want to think about it (which i always do). because being with pastor sooksan and the rest, we are familiar with one another and that makes me even not wanting to let go. I struggled through and really didnt want to give up the tribe which im close with and the people whom i made during the past years.

but yet God reminded me of being submissive and giving support to my leader, and partly i didnt want to give up on my gkids also. yesterday we had youthwings meeting - which is my last one, it just hit me that im no longer with the rest, not being involved in the christmas planning etc. to be truthful and honest, i felt sad because there is so much to learn and grow from there and the community where we started off. as much as being the emotional me, God just reassured me in my heart that He always has plans to prosper and not to harm. and for that, im trusting God in the next phase.

and like what valerie shared that pastor started off youthwings quite timely and i must admit that despite me feeling the dread to go each time, i ended up feeling blessed just being there. God has never short-change me and it has always been God who is hanging on to us. im thankful for Pastor, the rest of the sisters and of course God who never fails.

It is mid-November already. i wander where all the time goes to. hmmmm. kind of looking forward for Christmas, still trying to persuade my dad to get a Christmas tree this year and decorate it with bright lightnings and ornaments.

Ever since school ended like last wed, i have been really free. Sometimes it makes me happy with nothing to do - guiltless hours spend snuggling in bed. being able to sit on the couch and read magazines. especially on rainy days, those can be the best days. however sometimes it gets really bored. i would walk around, looking at the sky, thinking of everything and nothing at the same time.

nevertheless, been trying to tidy up my resume and cover letter (sound v serious isnt it) when i think of my future, it seems like nothing, w/o any anticipation. always trying to avoid questions - so what are you going to do now. just because i dont want to think about it. I guess that is the problem, it all becomes tedious. maybe its time for some serious planning.

I want to paint my whole room white, even my cupboards and tables. i really like white spaces, white walls. If i could have it my way, i will repaint my room white because i like how clean and classic white rooms tend to look. However, i reckon my parents would allow me to do that. my room always look cluttered, even after i packed and try to throw away the things i dont need or squeeze them into the cupboards. lets wait till exams are over.

For all the days/weeks/months that i haven been updating... that is because im currently in the midst of my exams. yes, pretty much depressing and frustrating. needless to say, i am drained. 2 papers down and 2 more to go.

this semester is the slackest i can get. just received my results for my project groupwork, and i have a module that i just passed by one mark. YES ONE MARK. im feeling grumpy because of this, and its frustrating how grades can make my mood go down >:(

I've promised myself too many things, too many times. I often know in advance that I'll give up, procrastinate, and sometimes fail, but when I actually believe in my own determination, and then throw in the towel because times get tough, that's when I get devastated. It's a pattern of mine which spans over a decade and a half.

Planned with @pickaline to cook korean food. both of us cycled together to Nex to get groceries , spend close to 3 hours just to whip out bibimbap and kimchi pancake. the meal turns out good despite the hard work and effort! It was nice to have something different for lunch (guess its the thrill of trying out!) ^^

I have not been updating here much admittedly. been done with tests for this semester, and i must say that i totally procrastinate and dont give much seriousness in my studies. it hit me when i didnt score well and i was wandering what had happened to me.

I am actually quite stressed up currently, thinking of the projects are going to due and pressurizing myself what happens if i cant get distinctions this semester. frustrated because i dont know why im giving myself unnecessary stress. maybe because this is the last semester and i know how important it is to clear all my modules and graduate by the end of this year. ohwells, thinking so much doesnt really help. im leaving everything in God's hands!

the memory is still vivid, remembering that i was filling up applications form for the different universities and photocopying all the relevant documents and now, im in my last semester of uni life already.

As i was reading this from pamela's blog, i somehow can relate and also having mixed feelings and much confusion within me. it bothers me when people asked me what i am going to do after i graduate and perhaps i did lose my vision every now and then during the journey.

I am aware that doing marketing will not allow me to earn as much as others who are striving to be a lawyer, doctor, banker, accountant. but i want to be happy with my job. my plans for now is to get a job after graduation (hopefully branding related or magazine) and save up money to start up a business. will never forget how i tell the people close to me how much i want to open up a cafe.

I guess i really need to have my visions ironed out and hopefully i can be happy with what i will be doing. This is probably one of the biggest roadblock I have had to face and it is my battle to fight, my decision to make.

All these feelings have been bottling inside me for quite awhile, i can only hope that this moody spell will lift soon. kind of hate living life with these feelings. it gets in the way of everything.

Well i guess its true that once you turn 21, time really flies.

Celebration was done at my place and i really enjoyed myself, catching up with friends. feel bad that i wasnt a good host (sorry peeps!) but really thankful for my family to help me with this, especially my dad and sister who drove around to help me with the cake, tables, chairs and initially the beer keg.

I had initially wanted my birthday party to be at a cafe, but it seems ridiculously expensive and decided to hold it at home. was also praying for good weather as i really wanted to hold it outside at the garden and thank god the weather was alright, maybe just a little hot haha.

I guess it doesnt really matter where you held it at as long as you have the perfect company with you. love you friends! <3

I need directions. I need to know whether im making a right choice.

Having a blogshop is really not easy with many competitors out there, and people might think it is easy, but really it isnt. with photoshoots, replying to email, updating the blogs and fb etc etc. all these can take up most of my weekends and take up to 6 hours at least. sometimes i would think that the effort put in is not worth the returns. however, it kind of ache my heart if i would to give up now and looking at the previous efforts that i have put in gone to waste. what should i do now? should i perserve? all these concerns comes in when im afraid to take risks.

Went to Mido Cafe which had really retro feel, however we really need to brush our chinese up. Dont know eggplant in chinese and had a hard time conversing with the waitress.

Will definately remember this place, cause we climb alot alot of steps just to get there. but effort is worth it, love my mushroom chicken pasta! :)

had dumplings, cheecheongfun and sichuan noodles for our first breakfast, quite satisfying! ohman im craving for the sichuan noodles, love the spicy-ness! the old building was taken from our hotel room outside, it gives a different feel.

I have officially ended my sem two exams (hopefully im able to clear all!) those studying days were the worst out of my entire school days. been just going to school and back home studying on the table together with notes and pens. it is like you wake up, washed up, start mugging, use computer for awhile, back to books and sleep. and the routine repeats again.

it was yesterday that i felt lost about what i should do now that exams are over. i even asked my sister the silliest question. "if i wanna go out, what should i bring out?"

that is the sign that i have been living under the rock for the past one and a half month. time to get my social life back.

Got this from living life book. God really speaks to us when we needed Him. This whole passage was just what I needed, during this period of study break. I am starting to feel scared and worried about the upcoming exams. all the expectations and juggling with all the other things. However, I know that God is far greater than the things of this world.

Our faith is going to determine where we will go in our lives, and what we will do. It will shape what we experience, and the depth to which we experience the things of God. But of all the things that faith does, it was designed for one purpose: to demonstrate to us, and to demonstrate to the world God's glory, and His triumphant victory.

i guess today is one of the better mornings that i have had. haha. managed to wake up and self-make this inspired tuna subway! you guys should try the gardenia bread, i think its new cause i haven seen it before in the supermarkets. but the bread is really good! with herbs and rosemary which i really like the fragrance :>

I have to admit that i've been in a pretty messed-up mood this week, maybe because of the gloomy weather we have had, or a few frustrations that caused me to to put Adele on constant repeat, or made me appreciative of those good-mood weeks. school has end for me, another semester over. i really cant believe how time flies just like that. and within 3 more weeks, exams are here. i gotta start studying and not procrastinate. but yet again, i have another assignment on hand which i have not touched and its due on friday. shucks.

so far from the break... been really busy and drained out. supper with usual, birthday party, teambuilding, church, gkids, tuition etc etc etc. though it has been busy, i kind of enjoy the rush of everything. it keeps me moving, thinking. hoping to do better, feel better.

Has been awhile since i last update! been busy with school, blogshop, tuition etc etc etc. i thought i should take some time off to write about what has been happening :) this week is project's week! which means no school but have to stay home to finish up them. on a happy note, i get to do things that i have been wanting to and spend more time catching up on movies.

During the weekends, went over to Amara hotel for a night stayover to celebrate Xinying's surprise 21st birthday. It was a different kind of twenty-first birthday cause its really comfortable! with the comfy beds, aircon, television with all channels, room services! omgggg i wished we get to extend a night or so!

the highlight of the night was uh i-don't-know how to explain. ohwells, pictures!

As of now, i feel like getting away from all the projects and internet or cut myself away from the world for an hour or so and escape into my own. How i wish...

It is mid-week!

it has been three weeks ever since school started. how fast right! now we have to be geared up with upcoming projects. so far, everything are fine. been juggling between school, tuition, blogshop and serving in gkids. it gets really tiring for me at times, however God has sustained me through and im learning to trust in Him for more!

though there were times where im unsure if im heading towards the correct directions, asking myself what is worth fighting for, dont know how to describe how tired i am at situations, fighting against the desires of the world - it makes me reflect and i can only thank God for the sufficient grace and strength He gives me for each day.

& it got me thinking when am i most vulnerable to compromise?

'There will always be people and circumstances in our life that will challenge us to choose between God and another. It might be your family, your school, perharps even your dreams. The question is, what or who will you choose. Is God always the first choice, or have we compromised because other things are dearer to our hearts?'

Wrapping up 2010

Don't you agree with me that every year seems to pass by faster than the previous?

2010 showed me new vistas, gave me abundance of love, brought me new lessons.

This year was the year which I started off my university life. At the beginning i was still struggling which course to take and the applications were all messed up. However, im still thankful of God placing me in SIM where I get to know new friends since it is a new environment despite only remembering how i rushed my projects and attempted to skip lectures here and there. I am truly blessed when it comes to results, it is truly by God's grace. Joined the SIM-FCBC group and got to know more people of the same church. they really encouraged me alot during my exams period by sending words of encouragement, which i will never forget.

I would say its also a year of getting out of my comfort zone, trying new stuffs. Managed to get my driving license, tried holding a flea@supperclub, had 2 vietnam trips and in HK and GZ with Cass, and lastly starting a blogshop. There will be much to learn from. and I will be taking one step at a time.

Meanwhile, thankful of people being part of my life :) wunyen, cass, liting, shirley and my family! forms of love shown from them like sisterly love and love from my family as we try to work on relationship together. I would say I enjoyed 2010 filled with best friends, holidays, food and festivals.

This was the two-in-one birthday celebration for liting and wy. which got me and cass to be exhausted physically, mentally and monetary. haha. NEVER NEVER NEVER are we going to do this anymore. However, if its a picnic where there is ready-made bentos, then maybe im agreeable to it.

'I Love Singapore' Walk (13 Nov 2010)

Thank God for the sunny weather then! It has been quite awhile ever since I moved in to the new cell group. What I'm really thankful about is that the sisters are very friendly and warm. it was a little awkward at times, but as we interact through encounter camp and during sunday services, i get to know them more and more.

I would say its a new environment that I am adapting to, trying hard to be accountable, and making the effort to know them and hopefully by then I would know what i really want and for now, give me time. I guess it is not in my way, but in God's way.

these was what i have been going through for the past week. been writing alot alot of notes, throwing papers and waking up at 7am memorizing notes. if i said it was not stressful, i would be totally lying. It didnt caught to me that uni exams would be that so tough and terrifying until i experienced it myself. no wander the school give us 1 month study break haha.

after i came back from hk, i left with one week to study and once i reached back sg, i panicked. i didnt see it coming. in that one week i was really stressful that i broke down several times. tried calling people so as to calm myself down. but the pressure was still there.

it was then i started seeking and praying to God. i then realised how powerful prayers and the word of God would be. i felt peace in my heart and God allowed me to experience his greatness in a very real way. im thankful for the spiritual family who has been praying for me and been encouraging me through smses. really appreciate that :)

And as of now, exams are over and im upholding everything into God's hands.

since i started school three months ago, i have been hiding behind my computer, working on the projects (with stressful deadlines). Thank God everything is over, and now to concentrate on my upcoming exams!

time really flies, without knowing, next week is october already. however, the first week of study break was AWESOME! im taking it all and digesting through this school break. did really fruitful things like gyming, swimming, indulging in korean dramas, going over to cass shop and work, meeting up with wy, having supper etc etc. come to think of it, i really enjoyed myself :) it feels like the best week!

tomorrow will be start of work!! lets hope i can get through this and mug hard for the exams!

God expects the same too. Just as we pray to the Father, we also listen to what He says. He speaks to us in many ways. Through His word, the bible; through events that happen around us; through people that He placed in our lives. Many a time, we get caught up with ourselves in this world, and we forget to listen to the still, small voice. Which is why Quiet Time with God is so important.

I have learnt to open my heart to God and often i wondered, what is stopping me in baptism after receiving numerous blessings and being taught of many things over the past few years.

As i hit the BIG 2-0...

Had dinner with family at cedele. I remember it was a sunday, i went to church and afterwhich i slept alot alot before heading for dinner. though me and my dad debated whether i should drive cause he was scared that i might crash the car in the shopping mall's carpark. but in the end i couldnt pluck up courage to drive in the carpark too, it is just too scary. plus it was my birthday, i wanted everything to go smoothly. hahaha however, it was one of the peaceful day where you spend time with family and myself, which i kind of like it v.much :)

My blog is officially 'dead' due to lack of postings. i decided to post something today since it is a sunday and i stayed home all day. I would always tell myself to get off the chair, turn off the computer and head outdoors, but it never happen. I then started thinking, what gives me joy in life (i know, its super-duper random, but that is how my mind works)

1. Visiting my grandmother

most of us would think wah, how can going over to gram's place be a joyful thing. but i really enjoy paying my grandmother visits, gather with my cousins and play with my nephews and nieces. we often spend time watching chinese tv shows (ai) while having a simple dinner together. and sometimes after dinner, we will go to the park downstairs to have a walk. sometimes i really wished i could move in with my grandma!

2. Finishing my work

sometimes just by seeing my projects deadline coming nearer and nearer, i just dont feel like dealing with it. then there are days where i felt slightly more discipline and manage to do something. By the end of it, i would have a huge sense of accomplishment and be pleased with myself, like having one off from the to-do-list.

3. Lazy afternoons

i love love love weekends afternoon where you spend quietly, lying on the couch or bed, reading a book while snacking away or baking something that you always wanted. it just feels like the time is all yours! No rush, just pleasure while soaking in the cool weather.

4. Getting away

The moments of arriving to the airport and boarding the plane would excite me pretty much! the thrill of knowing that you will be away from all the routine and not knowing what to expect. whooooo!

Thought that i should take time to record down.

I took my second driving test on the 31st July 2010, 11.30pm.

during my warmup, i did all the mistakes which i am not suppose to (eg mount kerb, strike kerb, wide angle turning etc etc) at that point in time i really did not felt ready for the test. however, i just lifted everything to God and He knows me best.

I heard my name being called, i was the second to go for the test. and turn out the tester was quite friendly, but you know, cannot judge the book by its cover. and everything went quite smoothly, from the circuit to road. until i cross the double white line = immediate failure. i totally sian half, thinking that i would need to take the third time, you know how embarrassing it can be! its not like im driving manual car, but im driving AUTO car.

After everything, we went into the result room, and the tester gave a loud sigh, saying that i have no confidence in the room and even cross the double white line. he kept asking if i wanna defend myself, i wanted to LOL when i heard that. DEFEND MYSELF? haha but i just shook my head and told him i shouldnt have cross over.

he cross and circle on the marking paper, and handed me the paper and told me i got 10points! wah, inside me im screaming with joy, but because cannot too happy in front of the tester, i just smile, thanked him and walked away.

Really, its through God's grace, i managed to pass! :) Thank you Lord!

this week was 'happening'. many glorious food eaten, and it makes me wonder if im really able to run for the 21km marathon. that is on the downside. however, on the brighter note, it makes me feel occupied and felt that time is spent more wisely than sitting in front of the computer, watching korean drama. hahaha.

also, thanks to mark x and cass the driver (insanely dangerous, yet safe) who makes the dinner cum supper happen for this whole week :) the company was great also! wheewhooooo.

I am exhausted.

And it hurts the most when the people you love so much fail to see how much they're really worth. you might be wondering why i felt this way. because my internet connection is giving me hugeass problems when im needed to start on an assignment like NOWWW. and my beloved brother didnt even help me or give a shit. and it feels like everything that im doing is wrong in my parents' eyes. like seriously. through the things that they say, or act upon. even if im back home late, at 10pm on the dot, you will see my phone ringing. its vvvvv irritating. why no freedom. why so serious.

Time is passing by us really quickly. It has been a crazy mid-week. I am settling into school where the lectures have so many people in it that it is so hard to find new friends. everyday is lecture in, lecture out. been finding CCAs to join, got a cashcard cause now photocoping and printing all paid by cashcard, haven eaten in the school canteen yet, been meeting people around in SIM blah blah blah.

Day 7 - 8: Halong Bay

The trip to Halong Bay was awesome! a love grew in me for the biting chill of the sea breeze, got to feel the damp salty morning air, the restlessness of the tides, to the joyous nights of just talking on the top deck. sadly we didnt catch the sunrise but thank god for the good weather!

Day 4: Motorbike Experience

How can i not blog about my motorbike experience!!

Jonice and Jenson were the darings one i would say. They did the first round of motorbike renting and drove for an hour while wy and i hang around the Sapa Market, checking out the manicure pedicure prices. haha, i know rightttt.

However, on the last day all of us decided to rent once more. So both wy and i decided to rent a bike together, she will take half an hour and the other half an hour to me. At the start, i was so so scared, i could hardly balance myself with the bike and the local people were staring at me like im some animal in the circus. but some of them were kind enough to help me balance and startup the engine and all.

here comes the grandmother's story...

we had to return our bikes to the rental shop. only jenson knew the way back to the place. so in a line, jenson & wy then jonice and im the last. not even halfway through, a lorry came over and cut in front of me. after the lorry turn, i cannot see jenson or wy or jonice. I PANICKED. im like oh shit wth. how can i be lost in such ulu place. i tried riding in circles and circles looking for them, and i think i really was too scared and wanted to stop the bike. I JAMMED BRAKED. sia lah... the whole bike stopped and both the bike and i collasped to the right.

my mind was in a whirl. so i didnt care of the pain but more of "what should i do now!!" i so wanted to cry when i realised the bike's engine cannot even start and im lost in this place. thank god that one of the local people helped me and directed me to the hotel. and along the way i saw wy and jenson!!!! can you imagine, i totally heaved a loud loud loud sigh of relief and was so thankful.

& LOL after i was found, jonice was MISSING. thankfully, she found her way back also!

and when we returned the bike, the lady boss checked and realise there was cracks and openings on my bike. i once again panicked. she demanded 2 million dong and insisted that the YAMAHA bike is an expensive brand. i didnt have that much dong at that point in time, i mean seriously who so crazy to pay 2 million dong! that is like $140++ in sing. thankfully jonice helped me argue and reasoned with the lady boss and paid her 1 million dong in the end (although i think i was scammed)

thank you jonice, wy and jenson for sponsoring me 100,000dong each :) haha.

i would say this whole experience is the highlight of the whole Hanoi trip, causing mental, physical and spirtual stress. haha. it was fun and im proud to say i rode a motorbike in my whole 20 years of living! ^^

one thing about them: they tag along with us while we trek through the mountains (all the way you know!!) they also like to ask, what is your name, where are you from, how old are you etc. there is a mixture feeling when you mingle with them. at the end of the trekking, they would ask you to buy their handmade handicrafts. and if we dont, we will feel bad for not buying.

At the end of the trip, Sapa is the most memorable place among the Hanoi trip. In Singapore, the streets are filled with people, cars and tall buildings. But here in Sapa, another world existed. The simple life and agriculture made me feel overwhelmed. maybe because back in spore, we are always so busy and stressful. and yet the people there are contented with the simple living and are so carefree.

Weekend brunch at Spruce :) the weather was almost perfect, not too hot and not too wet. however the two hangover girls were late. but still, the company was great! thank god we made reservation beforehand. the crowd was coming in around 1plus two. i like how the outdoor was created with orange lights that give a cosy feeling.

we had hotcakes (sidedish) while waiting for cass and liting to come. and my main serving was The Spruce British Brekkie. Poached eggs, baked beans, baked tomato, Cumberland Sausage, Mushrooms, Bacon and Foccacia Toast. whoooo, filled to the maxxx!

I want to learn to appreciate fine wines, and exotic liqueurs, and fine single malts, and learn how to drink them without turning into a complete div, and to eat strange and exotic foods, plovers' eggs and lobster thermidor, things that sound barely edible, or that I can't pronounce. I want to make love to beautiful, sophisticated, intimidating women, during daylight or with the light on even, and sober, and without fear, and I want to be able to speak many languages fluently, and maybe even a dead language or two, and to carry a small leather-bound notebook in which I jot incisive thoughts and observations, and the occasional line of verse. Most of all I want to read books; books thick as brick, leather-bound books with incredibly thin paper and those purple ribbons to mark where you left off; cheap, dusty, second-hand books of collected verse, incredibly expensive, imported books of incomprehensible essays from foreign universities.

At some point, I'd like to have an original idea. And I'd like to be fancied, or maybe loved even, but I'll wait and see. And as for a job, I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but something that I don't despise, and that doesn't make me ill, and that means I don't have to worry about money all the time. And all of these are the things that a university education's going to give me.

sorry for the lack of updates. when im back home from work + gym, im exhausted. oh, let me clarify gym. i signed up because it was for me to overcome my guity pleasure on food. i know right, ppl gym because they want to lose weight. but somehow it doesnt work for me. haha.

This week happenings:

meetup with serbian, raphael, shiling, edwin, jaclyn, junhao and bryan for dinner. both bryan and JH is enlisting in real sooon! its nice to meetup with them after so long of dilly dally. haha. went to thomson road, flaming grills for western food. the food was not bad plus price is really reasonable and we had beancurd for dessert. though was a short time spend, but i really wish the guys all the best in NS (:

& every tuesday seems to be movie outing with cass and wy. caught sex and the city 2, it wasnt that bad. i could hear all the ladies, "wahhh, ohhhh" when they spot brunches, beautiful clothes and shoes. the girls would probably gush about it while the guys might think it was a waste of time. haha. we had dinner at cuppage plaza and had once upon a milkshake. see what i mean... food again. lol. but still, im excited for this week's brunch!! :)
